Getting young drivers
behind the wheel with top-notch driving instructors, is what now
sends former racecar driver Chad McQueen to the race track.
Instituted in 2008, the program launched by McQueen, teaches
important and often times, life saving techniques that enables
young drivers to handle an automobile with intelligence and
skill.
McQueen is championing this cause after a tragic accident took the
lives of three students at Marywood-Palm Valley School in Rancho
Mirage. The first courses were held in December, 2008 at the
Marywood-Palm Valley campus, and the Morongo Resort Casino in
Cabazon. The program began with practice in a state-of-the-art
simulator, and was followed by a seven-hour behind-the wheel
instructional course with a professional driving instructor. At the
temporary track located behind Canyon Lanes in Cabazon, teens were
guided through a series of slalom courses that presented real-world
driving challenges. To date, nearly 75 Coachella Valley students
have benefitted from the instruction, due to the involvement and
